Kate took up yoga to help her lungs to recover from the ravages of asthma and about 25 years of heavy cigarette smoking. Yoga turned out to be so much more than just another exercise. It turned out to be the antidote to many of the problems she’d developed in a lifetime of shift work. Kate’s a 9-1-1 operator for the City of Fredericton and has a few things to say about managing stress in the work place.
Simply put, yoga became the path out of occupational burnout and the route back to joy filled living . Kate’s now enthusiastic about the tangible benefits a regular yoga practice can bring to people in high stress professions.
Kate’s theory is that if you have too many demands in your life and not nearly enough resources to deal with them, you can probably find something very positive and refreshing on a yoga mat.
